Tattoo Apprenticeship!?

Don't worry, its part time! I figured since I  have a fair bit of free time, I put it forward and use it wisely towards a career goal!

I had an interview with a tattoo studio, I didn't mind if I did or did not get it, because you cant cry over something you've never had and I would love to hear some feedback on my work, so I went in with an open mind. However, when interviewed,  I was asked a set of questions?

Where do I see myself in 2 years time... which was fair.
Where do I see myself in 5 years time... which was.. ok?
Where do I see myself in 10 years time... which I actually didn't know what to say?

I'm 21? So, thinking as I would, I told them Perhaps with my own studio? To which they replied, that they do not want anymore competition and that in their words 'Once I sign my soul to the devil, it is there I stay' meaning if I sign with them, I'm with them.

They didn't even look at my portfolio.

But what got me, was when I was leaving their establishment, they told me if I did change my mind, they would be willing to do another interview?

U WOT?

Reflection of the year!

It was out of Coventry, Falmouth or Birmingham, I declined Fally because its trek and I didnt want to live under my sisters shadow at Birmingham, so I decided to fall into Coventry, not because they were a back up or a because 'it's easy to get into' -people who think like that are so bleak-.

Because, when I arrived for my interview.. when interviewed. I was made to feel at ease, I was made to feel like everything was ok and whatever feedback I got was going to be constructive, which it was. I didn't come here for the architecture, or because its close to home, I came here to make a name for myself, in a place where I feel like no one is judging me.

Here, no matter how bad my work I have presented, to any of the tutors, its never taken lightly, its always serious, and its always about how you can improve and what you can do. I love that the tutors are always there to help, and how they're so easy to talk to... It makes studying here so much easier and so comfortable.

Even the students, no one feels like they're better than anyone, we are all on the same level and omg, its so nice to talk to people who appreciate the different widths and nibs of pens and pencils and that will always constructively give you feedback from their point of view.

Coventry, has really exceeded my expectations and I love Uni! I really am enjoying it and everything that the course has to offer, I love that I am learning new things and that these new things arnt just things I can transfer in Trivia, but things I can actually use in my field of work/career path.

The challenges that the projects have to offer really make you want to break through your limits and the pressure of the deadlines, MAKE you want to do better in the allotted time that you do have, don't change IG!

And, once again...

THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING, ITS BEEN SO MUCH FUN!

Mock ups!

Cute little roughs of a commission I am working on, although.. I cannot wait to finalize and outline these cuties!

It is a design based upon his love of music and his love of traditional Sailor Jerry art, mixed with a splash of modernism!
